7/24/2012 0 Comments Floral TintypesI finished the framing for this piece today, it was created last week in my back yard. The tintypes are of a red hibiscus that we have carried from house to house as we have moved. It is the only plant in my garden that can stand up to my 'everyone get's the hose' pattern of watering. These four plates were shot with my Calumet 4x5 camera with Copal #1 lens. This piece features two red and two black tintypes mounted to a custom steel frame.
7/23/2012 0 Comments Restoring family tintypesI took in an order of nine old tintypes this weekend. They are all from one family and even though they are all badly damaged, it is still amazing how much detail remains on the surface of these tiny metal plates. I'll be putting the missing pieces back together, rebuilding this families tintype heirlooms, and restoring old memories of long gone relatives.
I can now even restore the old tintype to a new tintype, which is a great way to preserve memories both new and old. Click here to get started! They are 20% off just until the end of the month! Twelve tintypes mounted to steel. 'First thing, every morning' is a version of my own personal groundhog's day.

Thanks to all those who participated! 7/13/2012 0 Comments Digitype, a new digital tintypeThis digitype was made from an old family photograph; my great-grandfather is the boy standing to the far right. I had restored this photograph a number of years back and made silver gelatin paper prints for my family. I saved the digital file and yesterday made this digital tintype from the image. Now this family heirloom is truly preserved! Click here to get started making your own!
7/12/2012 2 Comments Joanie, an 8x10 tintypeGearing up for 'Proof of Life', a series of tintype portraiture showing at JDC fine art next month.
Now till the end of the month you can take 20% off your digitype order! This image was created from a digital file. The image is of a client's mother's childhood home. He wanted to create something special for his mom, and this is what we came up with, a miniature tintype of her childhood home. Click here to get started!
A new tintype art piece crafted this week at my home studio. Sending you into your weekend with two wishes.
