The Stocking Series Artist reception July 21st 4-7 pm A collection of silver gelatin photographs by Dana Attari. "With this series, I wanted to find a playful way of exploring themes of sexuality and female identity. Even when fully clothed, there is something about the presence of stockings that is suggestive of intimacy. And although I am greatly influenced by fashion, the clothes are not the focus of my pictures. A sense of drama remains very important to me. I love the theatricality of building a shot, deciding on the players and the costumes. Sometimes the viewing of a photograph (like the drama and illusion of books and film), is just the small distance required to give us even deeper insight into our lives and relationships. Within the frame, the discomfort can become beautiful and allow us a little more acceptance of ourselves and others."- Dana Attari
